Couch

We were in Singapore and were shopping along Orchard Road the whole evening. Jadon was tired and he refused to get down to walk by himself. Hence my wife and I had to carry him.

As we entered the room in Marriott and wanted to call it a day, I saw the striking Red colour couch with a standing lamp next to it in the room. It was the combination of the colour and the warm diffused tungsten light that caught my attention.

I put Jadon on the couch and took out my camera from the hotel wardrobe. I wanted to maintain the diffused lighting condition but if I wear to take the exposure reading directly from Jadon’s face, the nice diffused light would be completely blown off.

So I dialed my shutter to a –1.5 stop, recomposed the frame again and seek assistance from my wife to attract Jadon’s attention from his left so that his head will turn slightly to the light source.

And in less than 1min, we captured this photo which is one of my favourites in his collection. Wonderful!
